The Puerto Rican Association for Hispanic Affairs is a 501©3, non-profit corporation founded in 2005. What this brings to the Treasure Coast is a cultural and educational organization dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of the Hispanic culture, history, arts, business, and humanities.
Among P.R.A.F.H.A.’s goals are: to promote the diversity of our cultures; to establish scholarships for minority students at the local state college; and to support Hispanic artists and cultural organizations. “If we invest in education now, we as a community will reap the rewards”, explains Jacquelene Burke, Vice President of P.R.A.F.H.A.
According to 2010 Census Bureau figures, Hispanics now account for one in every six Americans. In 2011, Hispanic spending power is estimated at $1.2 trillion a year according to the U.S. Census. Robert Roldan, President of P.R.A.F.H.A. states: "The idea that there's strength in numbers certainly applies to Latinos and what this powerful demographic is poised to achieve over the next several years”. This highlights the rich source of buying power that the Hispanic community represents.
